The Windbourne Highlanders (WBH) test its members through trials of skill. There are three trails.
- Trail 1 is a 1 vs 1 contest between a WBH judge and a candidate; defeating a WBH Judge advances the candidate to the role of Judge, able to assess other warriors levels of skill.
- Trail 2 is a 1 vs 2 contest between two WBH Judges and a mechwarrior. A victorious candidate receives the WBH unit patch.
- Trail 3 pits a mechwarrior vs three WBH Judges. It is a true test of a skill. Few members pass this test. Those that do, promote to the the WBH Black Watch.
Only members who pass the trails have their name enshrined on the WBH Wall of Honor and receive appropriate recommendation.
