Objectives
- Structured drops apply formalized rigid formalized tactics: to learn practice coordinated maneuvers and team work
- Everyone who enters structured drop shall adhere to this plan.
- If a person is not interested in structure – they should use another drop ship.
- It is totally understandable that everyone wants run on their own to build up, test, or pug at some point just clear the channel and use another ship.
- This will take time to get right – there will be a lot of “learning” failures as we learn if this can work.
- Abandon the mindset that each map only has a few ideal spots to fight this is about using terrain and tactics to our advantage anyplace on map.
- More formations and “plays” will be added to the book after we learn to handle the basics.
We hold the line
- We call our drop lead the Conn.
- We call the assault lead the Zero (0)
- We avoid unnecessary talking, with the Conn directing, the zero prioritizing targets, and drop members warning of danger.
- We hold people accountable for understanding their roles..
- Good reporting is in terms of grid square location. "Enemy Echo 7, 2 heavies, 1 assault" is great reporting. "I saw a dire wolf by the cave” is not.
- Stay out of assault firing line of view.
- Assaults always look downrange. They do not look back unless directed. This is the Conn's responsiblity to ensure they do not attacked from the rear or sides.
- Assaults ignore artillery and airstrikes. Do not panic if smoke is dropped on your position, assaults have armor to absorb it.
- Conn directs the zero to setup via grid square and where to direct thier firepower via grid square.
- Conn use laser “pointer” liberally to help guide assault lance for set up.
- As this is a work in progress, all suggestions for improving tactics are welcome. Bring them up between matches.
